After graduating Suma Cum Laude from Glendale College with a degree in business administration, Donna spent the first fifteen years of her professional life as a single mom, climbing the corporate ladder in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry.
She became the first female Vice President of a large Fortune 100 Insurance Brokerage firm and is the only person in the CNMI having achieved the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation (CPCU), the most prestigious degree in the industry.
Upon meeting her dentist husband, Nelson Krum, Donna left her insurance world and began using her managerial & marketing skills in the dental profession. It was “love at first sight” for both Dr. Krum AND the dental profession. She has never looked back.
She has been an active member of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce since 2013, and her passion for Chamber membership has earned her the nickname “The Chamber Cheerleader”. She has been elected three times to serve on the Chamber’s Board.
Donna has been active in leadership roles with the Rotary Club of Saipan and the Soroptimist International chapter here. In addition, she is the Vice-Chair of the Blue-Ribbon Initiative, which is tasked with combatting the Drug & Alcohol addiction problem in the CNMI. She also co-founded The Compassionate Friends Chapter, which offers support to those who have lost children, having lost her own daughter, Kristen, in 2005.
Donna is a life-long learner and is passionate about continuing to learn something new every day and encouraging others to do the same! Her professional motto is “Show up and Play Nice”. You just don’t want to miss anything along life’s journey!
In 2020, at the height of Covid, Donna and Nelson brought the game of Pickleball to Saipan as part of Paradise Dental’s commitment to Community Outreach. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the nation, and they started with a court taped in their dental office parking lot. Today, there are 12 pickleball courts around the island, with play seven days a week, including a Pickleball Prison Ministry. Players from Saipan have won medals in the last three National tournaments & Pickleball will be one of the Olympic sports in the 2032 Brisbane games.
Nothing, though, compares to Donna’s latest and greatest passion – becoming a first-time grandmother! It took 15 years of heartbreak, but baby Josephine Clark made her debut on March 28th and got to travel and spend her first Christmas on Saipan with Grandma & Grandpa. Josie will be the dental school graduating class of 2050, with plans to take over the reins of Paradise Dental Spa! May our dental legacy live on!
